SavingStar and the New Albertsons Policy

It isn't new news that Albertsons no longer requires shopper cards for weekly grocery deals. But now, as of October 31st, they will no longer offer their gas program. So in order to get an Albertsons card that can be linked to your SavingStar account, you must do the following:

- Call Albertsons Customer Service at 877-932-7948.

- Request a Upromise Albertsons Card that can be linked to your SavingStar account.

- Tell the representative that the Albertsons Preferred Card is no longer accepted in your area because the gas program has been phased out.

- You should receive a Upromise Albertsons card in 7-10 days.

- Link your new Upromise card to SavingStar account by signing in and clicking "My Account" and then "Stores". Then register the card under Albertsons.

(The sooner you request a card the better because the 31st is only 10 business days away and it will take about that long to receive the card)

REMEMBER: You don't have to be an Albertsons shopper to use SavingStar! You can use it at several different stores in the area. At Albertsons you link your loyalty card to your account (I am still waiting on hearing back from SavingStar customer service on how the upcoming (Oct. 31st) Albertsons card change will affect SavingStar). At Walmart, Walgreens, Winco and Target you just upload a picture of your receipt with your phone or computer. If using a computer just look for the buttons like this:

Hit "Submit Receipt" and then upload the picture off your computer.

There are some new Checkout 51 deals that were just released today that make for some nice matchups at our local stores. Plus, there are also some SavingStar and Ibotta deals to stack. Here is a complete list:

Checkout 51 is a money-saving app that gives you cash back if you purchase certain items and then upload a picture of your receipt proving you bought them. Your account accumulates this cash back until you reach $20, then they send you a check in the mail. To learn more about it, go here.

SavingStar also offers cash back on a list of different items. It is restricted to specific stores. Albertsons and Walmart are our nearest participating stores. You link your Albertsons card to your account or scan and upload your Walmart receipts. When you reach a $5 minimum you can cash out using Paypal. Learn more here.

Ibotta is yet another money-saving app. It gives you a list of different stores and the rebates offered at each one. If you buy an item and upload your receipt then you will get a certain amount credited to your account. Once you reach a minimum of $5 you can "cash out" via Paypal or purchase gift cards from select stores. Learn more here.

Checkout 51: This week the SuperPretzels are on sale for $2.00 each. Pair the sale with this offer and get each box (6-ct.) for $1.50. (exp. 9/17)

Checkout 51: I am not sure what the exact price of bananas is right now, but my guess is around 59 cents/lb. (exp. 9/17)

SavingStar: This new product is not currently on sale but with this high value offer and this printable coupon for $1.00 off one you can get a package of Pillsbury Melts Cookies for $1.99.

Well bummer!!! I just bought salt last week. If you are like me, these 26 oz. containers last forever, so I rarely get them. Just last week, I realized I was almost out so I got some. Yes, it cost me less than a dollar, but still! I could have used that dollar somewhere else. 

Sometimes I wish I could see into the future so I know what deals are coming up and I can patiently wait for them. Oh well. I suppose if I could really see into the future, I would probably need to use that power for more important things than couponing. Haha :)

Call Albertsons customer service (NOT the local store, but the headquarters). The number is 1-877-932-7948. Say that you want to participate in the gas rewards points program, but don't have an Albertsons card (I find that easier than try to explain SavingStar). They will sign you up and mail you a card.
