GREAT News from Ibotta!

I just looked at Ibotta today and saw something I never had before!

It looks like Albertsons finally jumped on the Ibotta bandwagon! This should open up even more opportunities to use this app, which is nice because all I use it for now is milk. I am excited to put it to use.

If you want to learn more about Ibotta or to sign up, check out my post on how to use it and its pros and cons. Link here.

Current Checkout 51, Ibotta, and SavingStar Deals

There are some new Checkout 51 deals that were just released today that make for some nice matchups at our local stores. Plus, there are also some SavingStar and Ibotta deals to stack. Here is a complete list:

Checkout 51 is a money-saving app that gives you cash back if you purchase certain items and then upload a picture of your receipt proving you bought them. Your account accumulates this cash back until you reach $20, then they send you a check in the mail. To learn more about it, go here.

SavingStar also offers cash back on a list of different items. It is restricted to specific stores. Albertsons and Walmart are our nearest participating stores. You link your Albertsons card to your account or scan and upload your Walmart receipts. When you reach a $5 minimum you can cash out using Paypal. Learn more here.

Ibotta is yet another money-saving app. It gives you a list of different stores and the rebates offered at each one. If you buy an item and upload your receipt then you will get a certain amount credited to your account. Once you reach a minimum of $5 you can "cash out" via Paypal or purchase gift cards from select stores. Learn more here.

Albertsons

Checkout 51: This week the SuperPretzels are on sale for $2.00 each. Pair the sale with this offer and get each box (6-ct.) for $1.50. (exp. 9/17)
Checkout 51: I am not sure what the exact price of bananas is right now, but my guess is around 59 cents/lb. (exp. 9/17)

SavingStar: This new product is not currently on sale but with this high value offer and this printable coupon for $1.00 off one you can get a package of Pillsbury Melts Cookies for $1.99.

SavingStar: This week Albertsons has this on sale for $1.49 (14 oz.). Use this offer and a .30/1 French's Mustard coupon from the 6/15 SmartSource insert to get one bottle for 94 cents!

Broulim's

Checkout 51: I was at Broulim's last night and I believe that bananas were .59/lb. (exp. 9/17)

Checkout 51: This is an exciting offer considering that Broulim's has its Tillamook Yogurt on sale for .33 each. Pair that with this offer and get a cup of the best yogurt ever created for ONLY 8 CENTS! (exp. 9/17)

Wal-Mart

SavingStar and Checkout 51: These two offers can be stacked to take a total of $1.75 off the price of the Nature Valley Protein Granola. Unfortunately I have no idea if our Walmart carries this, or what the price is. It is worth a look though. (checkout 51 offer exp. 9/17)
Ibotta: Everyone needs bread! (exp. 12/30)

Ibotta: Everyone needs milk! (exp. 9/14)

App Recap

In a recent "girls night" I got together with some friends to talk about some of our favorite money making apps. It was a lot of fun and very enlightening. In fact, we plan on doing it again sometime, although we will probably open it up to the males, too :)

Here is my best write up of what we talked about, as I understood it. If any of my information is wrong or unclear, please correct me!

First, the ones that were new to me:

CrowdTap

By signing up with Crowdtap, you’ll be presented with a variety of surveys, ranging from 1 question to multiple qustions. These surveys and feedback are used to help brands make major marketing decisions. For your time and input you can Get rewarded with gift cards (Amazon), product samples and more.
Our friend, Talia is an avid Crowdtapper. She says it is one of her favorites. She signs in a couple of times a month to do some quick surveys and earns a $5 Amazon.com gift card. She has a friend that has had a ton of success with Crowdtap, and even was given free Puma workout gear as a part of a survey. Read about her Crowdtap experience here
From what I have read, the more thoughtful and honest the feedback on surverys, the greater chance you have to earn bigger gift cards and samples.

Pros:
You don't have to sign in every day or anything like that. It is a go-at-your-own-pace program.
You don't have to have a smartphone. This is something you can do from a computer or tablet.
The surveys (called "Quick Hits" I think) aren't long and time-consuming. You can pick and choose what you want to answer.

Cons:
It seems like the rewards are somewhat based on luck. You may or may not get picked for the good ones.

$0.50 back on MILK!

Ibotta has been offering a milk deal for the past few weeks that I decided I might as well post about. It has been renewing weekly, so I always thought it would be gone soon so why blog about it?? Well it keeps coming back, so I guess I will spread the word!

In the Ibotta app, under Walmart or Walgreens, look for a rebate on any brand, one gallon, white milk. It will be for $0.50. Fulfill the "tasks" associated with the rebate and then redeem it to add $0.50 to your Ibotta account. You can only redeem the rebate once.  But, like I said, it has been reappearing every week, so you could potentially do it once a week until Ibotta decides to stop offering this deal. When you have reached a minimum of $5.00 then you can "cash out" in a variety of ways. To read more about Ibotta, go here.

Milk is currently $2.28 at Walmart and $2.59 at Walgreens.
Use the $0.50 rebate from Ibotta
Makes it: as low as $1.78 for one gallon.

Plus, there is a bonus associated with the milk rebate. If you redeem 2 other offers from any other store, restaurant, etc in the same week as the milk, you get another $0.50 back.

For example, last night I went and bought the Fiber One Fruit Snacks for $1.50 after a coupon ($0.75 ibotta rebate) and the Cascadian Farms Organic Granola for $2.25 after a coupon ($1.00 ibotta rebate) and the a gallon of milk for $2.28 ($0.50 ibotta rebate). I spent $6.03 out of pocket on all three products and got some money back via Ibotta - $2.25 from the rebates and $0.50 from the additional bonus.

So, all three items actually only cost me $3.28!!

Note: some of these offers expire on the 28th.  The milk expires Sunday, 3/30 at midnight.

Ways to Save - It Doesn't Stop At Coupons!

There are so many new ways to save money on your everyday purchases!  Putting money back in your pocket (well, bank account, actually) is the goal of several new and popular apps for your smartphone. Don't have a smartphone? Don't despair!  Several of the apps have the option to be used without a smartphone.

The apps by themselves are fun and useful, BUT the super savvy shopper will use the apps stacked with coupons to maximize the savings.  This is the ideal situation... at least in my book. :)

Here is a rundown.
